Wow, what a summer!

Having the second book completed in record time was amazing; it was going through the editing processes that were soooo stressful. As the creator of world Niula and it's people having 'strangers' come in and make tweaks to them was an adventure in patience.

However now my beloved characters from 'Quest'; Vila, Shul and the others are now joined by Dawn, Pii and Sisko and the rest of their friends. It is never easy to see inside my head, (just ask my husband), but when I started 'Quest of the Evensongs' I already knew what had happened in the story to bring that story into being.

There is always a history; what happened to create the situation in the first place.

I knew, I couldn't write 'Quest' without knowing. Now others will be enlightened also. "Lost in the Evensongs" is that story. I really believe it should be read after 'Quest', even though it takes place in time before it. But thats just my opinion.

I'm named the third book in the Trilogy, "Chorus of the Evensongs", for right now it's my working title. We will see...The outline is complete, the rough draft is coming along and as that story develops I'm finding there is so much more I'd love to tell. For now I'm staying focused on just the main story.

About the pictures in my last post. I found those and just needed to 'put' them someplace. They seemed to fit what my mind was seeing...

At the same time I've started work on another book; had to do something to take my mind off all the editing stuff. It's a lot more contemporary; a high school girl in a bad situation that runs away from her home, only to end up with the Fey. Sounds dark, but it's lightening up a lot. We will see....

Lost in the Evensongs makes it's debut July 20th !! Sample chapters are posted !

Lost in the Evensongs makes it's debut July 20th !!
Pii is a child prodigy, his best friend is the heir to the planets, he shares his home with a warrior and a ballerina, and to top it off he’s in love with a Gipsie, could his life get any more strange?
The school year is just starting on the sparkling crystal planet at Niula College and Pii is about to learn just how bizarre it can get. A small drop of blood changes his and his friend’s lives forever.

A gripping adventure into fantasy, as eight young college students find their way into the Evensongs, and discover a power beyond their imaginations.

“Lost in the Evensongs” is the second book in the series
‘The Evensongs Trilogy”.

It is not the sequel, but the companion story to “Quest of the Evensongs”. Bringing both sets of characters to the same place in time. It can be read before, or after “Quest of the Evensongs” (though the author likes it after), creating the harmony for “Chorus of the Evensongs” due out the in fall of 2011.

A short story entitled “Grace of the Evensongs” will be making its debut before the end of July 2011 also. Sometimes there just seems to be more to a story than what fits in a book. This is the story of Grace and the Twins who are caught in the Evensongs, the only hope for their friends. It answers some questions that my husband tended to ask when he finished all of the stories. A ‘bridge’ if you will. I knew the answers, ‘duh', but he thought it would be nice if I shared them with the other readers.

The apple of my eye...

Meet my son Vale.

My daughter Nikki got the artistic stuff from my husband and I, where as my son got all the analytical stuff. He is my critic. I love to bounce parts of my stories off of him. He's the one who will say "But that can't happen that way." and I'd respond, "In my world it does.", then "No mom he can't jump over the river because in the last part you broke his leg."

He's also my adjective finder, my walking dictionary, my spell check, a brainiac and my source of useless trivia.   He's 12.

I'll call out "Give me another way to say someone is crying" the response is something like, "You know mom eyes don't cry it's the tear ducts" then as he tells me every fact he knows about how and what tear ducts are...while I hunt somewhere else.

Last night I knew what my person was doing, but couldn't get the right words. So I go and stand in front of him and make the expression.

"Using his deltoids he made a gesticulation and tightened his orbicularis producing a constriction" no way, as I check what a orbicularis is after I figure out how to spell it.
"He flexed his deltoids and while his orbicularis constricted"  not helpful.
"He shrugged his shoulders and pursed his lips" better, already had that though
"His armpits itched so he shrugged his shoulders to itch them as he ate a lemon"  No!

Crud mom, I don't know! “In exasperation at me from asking so many questions, he did a quick shrug, rolled his eyes, while tightening his lips crookedly. He was frustrated and his body language showed it” That’s it! Got it, thanks Vale.

My son, the apple of my eye. He will grow up to be a Book Reviewer or a Food Critic...Lord help us all!

The Birds and Bees...

As I put the finishing touches on "Lost in the Evensongs" I was telling my best friend that I was still working on the 'love' scenes. She laughed, telling me I just didn't know how to write them right...mine were too tame, too subdued, too docile.  And you know what, they are. It's not that I don't know how to write them right, it's that I don't write them as many others do!
In my world (and my writing is part of my world), love or forgive me...sex...is private. I don't want to read all the details, or someone else's version of what love/sex is. I don't want my children to read something and think it's normal or correct for a teenager to do some of the things written in books today. Some things are private and need to be kept so. Not that we don't talk, a lot, about these issues, but again those are private.
I love reading a book where they bring you to a point, and then you fill in with your own imagination or life experiences what happens next. A teenager can read it and with their level of understanding fill in, imagining a first kiss or a brush of a hand. Or...like my good friend...can fill in with what she thinks they are doing next.
The birds and the bees are playful and innocent in my little stories, where some things aren't even mentioned until they are married. Where love can bloom and right is right. I'll leave the graphic copulation scenes to others thank you very much.
Some...many...maybe everyone will disagree with me. I'm just fine with that. I want to weave adventures, where good usually overcomes evil, where passion is combined with respect and tenderness...ones that anyone can read and enjoy.
If my dear friend is reading...I love you! And if you want to write your own scenes or tell me what you think they should or are doing when I'm not looking, I promise to blush, and laugh, and try not to think of my beloved characters doing what you suggest...

Working on "Lost in the Evensongs"

I've been striving to finish at least one chapter a day, I should have it all finished by now. However I have this habit of when I finish a chapter I re-read it, then do a scan of key points backwards to make sure I haven't given someone green shoes when she was wearing red.

This story is coming together nicely; I like my people...silly but writing out a sad part last night I was choking up as I wrote. Don't know if that means I was doing a good job of writing, or just really felt the pain, or if I needed a glass of wine !

I still plan on posting some sample chapters, but I hesitate as I write these last chapters...may need to revise some earlier items...

Enjoy the day!  And be safe this 4th ! God Bless America, our wonderful home !
